This page is dedicated to helping Nutrien Ag stores quickly identify and resolve common product issues.

Select the product or problem you’re experiencing to find step-by-step fixes, helpful videos, recommended checks and replacement parts.

If the issue can’t be resolved here, simply submit a Warranty & Repair request and our team will help get it sorted as quickly as possible.

Where can our store order the sheep shear?

Nutrien Ag stores can order through their local Nutrien warehouse where stock is available, or place an order directly with Shearing And More using a Nutrien Ag Purchase Order (PO).

If you're unsure where to order from, contact us and we'll help organise the easiest supply option.

What if our local warehouse doesn't have stock?

Contact Shearing And More directly. We can help locate stock or organise supply directly to your store using a Nutrien Ag PO.

How do returns and warranties work?

Use the Warranty & Repairs section of this hub. Enter the order number, purchase date and issue, then upload a photo or short video.

We'll review the problem and help determine whether the unit requires a replacement part, repair or replacement unit.

Do we need to return the entire sheep shear?

Not always. Many of the main components can be identified and replaced individually.

Sending us a video can allow us to determine what's required without unnecessarily sending the complete unit back.

Battery & Charging

One battery works but the other doesn't. What should I do?

Try both batteries in the same handpiece.

If the shear operates normally with one battery but not the other, the problem is most likely the battery.

The battery isn't charging. Is it the battery or charger?

Test both supplied batteries on the same charger.

  • One charges and one doesn't → likely a battery issue

  • Neither battery charges → check the charger and power supply

  • Both batteries charge but the shear doesn't operate → the issue may be with the handpiece/body

  •

The battery doesn't last as long as it used to. What should I do?

Fully charge both batteries and compare their performance. If one has significantly shorter runtime than the other, submit a Battery support request.

The battery won't connect properly.

Check the battery and connection points for dirt, damage or anything preventing it from locking into position.

If the connection appears damaged, send us a photo.

Cutting & Tension

The shear is running but isn't cutting properly.

Before assuming something is broken, check the:

  • Comb and cutter

  • Blade sharpness

  • Oil/lubrication

  • Blade positioning

  • Tension

  • Head for wool or debris

A blunt or incorrectly fitted comb and cutter can make a perfectly functioning handpiece appear faulty.

How much tension should I use?

Our rechargeable sheep shears do not require excessive tension.

Start with lighter tension and only adjust enough to achieve a clean cut. Continually tightening the tension isn't the solution to poor cutting.

Too much tension creates additional heat, resistance and load on the handpiece.

The shear is pulling wool rather than cutting.

Check the comb and cutter first. They may be blunt, incorrectly positioned, dry or require a small tension adjustment.

The comb and cutter are getting hot.

Make sure you're using enough oil and that the tension isn't too tight.

Some warmth during operation is expected, but excessive blade heat can indicate too much friction.

Head & Drive Cog

The motor is running but the blades aren't moving.

If you can hear the motor operating but there is little or no movement at the cutter, stop using the shear.

The issue may be within the head or drive mechanism, including the drive cog.

Send us a short video showing the shear running and the head so we can identify the required part.

The drive cog isn't working correctly.

If the motor runs but isn't transferring movement correctly through to the shear head, there may be an issue with the drive cog or associated head components.

Don't continue forcing the handpiece to operate. Submit a video through the support page and we'll help identify the correct replacement part.

The shear is making a strange clicking, grinding or rattling noise.

Stop and check where the noise is coming from.

First check the comb, cutter, tension and head. If these appear normal but the unusual noise continues, it could indicate an issue with the drive cog, head mechanism or body/motor.

A video with the sound clearly audible is usually the quickest way for us to identify the problem.

The shear head isn't moving smoothly.

Remove the battery before inspecting the head. Check for wool, dirt, lack of lubrication, incorrectly fitted blades or visible damage.

If everything appears clean and correctly fitted but the problem continues, send us a video.

Body & Motor

The shear won't turn on.

Try both fully charged batteries.

If neither battery operates the shear but both appear to charge correctly, the issue may be within the body, motor, switch or electrical connection.

The shear cuts in and out.

First check that the battery is properly connected and test the second battery.

Also check for excessive tension or a jammed head placing unnecessary load on the handpiece.

If it continues with both batteries, send us a video for assessment.

The motor is making an unusual noise.

If the noise is coming from the body rather than the head, stop using the shear and send us a video with the sound clearly audible.

We'll help determine whether the issue is with the motor, head or drive mechanism.

The handpiece is getting unusually hot.

Check the tension, lubrication, blades and ventilation areas.

Excessive tension or resistance at the head can place additional load on the motor and generate unnecessary heat.

Charger

The charger isn't working.

Make sure it is correctly connected to power and then test both batteries.

If neither battery charges, the charger may need replacing.

The charger works with one battery but not the other.

If one battery charges normally, the charger is most likely working and the problem may be with the other battery.

Repairs & Replacement Parts

What parts can be replaced?

Depending on the issue, we can help with components including:

Shear Head • Drive Cog • Body/Motor • Battery • Battery Charger • Combs & Cutters • Other Spare Parts

I'm not sure whether it's the motor, head or drive cog.

That's exactly what the support system is for.

Don't order a part you're unsure about. Send us a short video of the handpiece operating, making sure we can see the head and hear any unusual noise.

Our team can review it and help identify which component is most likely required.

What should I include with a warranty or repair request?

Provide the:

Order number • Purchase date • Store details • Description of the problem • Photo or video

If you know which part is required, select it on the form. If you're not sure, that's completely fine — we'll help identify it.
